November 4th
Whenever there are days where I am unable to think of a post, I somehow get rescued by some great ideas people give me through e-mails.
For reasons unknown, there is no daylight savings time over here. Someone will have to brief me on that one. Where in the world is daylight savings time? Anyway, when I came over here and since Sunday, our time has always been +8 off of Central Standard Time (US). The easiest way I explain it to everyone is, just add 8 hours to your time and you will have mine. Of course, this makes communication back home a little tricky. You have to find that in between time that isn’t too late here or too early back home, and vice versa. “Our time” has always been noon in Waupun, 2000 (or 8:00 PM for you civilians) here to link up. Well, now, with “your” time change, we are +9, since they don’t “fall back” over here. It will be like that until we leave.
The other thing I wanted to mention is the weather. I know I vowed not to talk about it ever again back in May, but today was extremely unusual. Look at the Camp Buehring weather forecast for November 4th. Alright, I know there is a lot of data on there, but can anyone see something on there that jumps out at you? Maybe it isn’t real obvious, but if you were here, you certainly would notice it. I will add, this has been the first day since I have been over here that this type of weather has been present. I will give you a day to think about it!
Hope everyone is well!

Good Morning Bill. Greetings from Edgewood Dr. When you started to talk about weather and forecasts…I had to take a guess. I saw the chance of a Thunderstorm on 11/2 & 11/3. I was guessing that is a bit unusual….I will have to wait and see.
Take care and be safe!

Good morning! Or afternoon for you, I should say!
Wow! nice that you have some rain there… I imagine it gets really muddy with all the sand around…
I hope you have a great day! I know our days are better as we think of your return so soon! CAN’T WAIT, MAN!!
Take care, primo…

I am going to take a stab at this. I think it is the rain but maybe it is also the chemical dispersion dropping. I don’t even know what that means but it was something that was different.

Not sure on the weather thing??? I will wait for your answer. As I was traveling over the weekend I ran into new weather terminology as well. I had never heard of freezing fog. This is what it said was happening in Denver, CO at the airport. We are not sure exactly what freezing fog is– is it frost??? Thought it was interesting. I didn’t realize that not everyone has day light savings…I know there are certain states in the US that don’t do it–but who does and doesn’t do it? Good question. Hope all is well–and the weird weather is treating you well today! Later.

Bill,
First time with winds out of the north brings a bit cooler weather. Chemical dispersion instead of wind direction. I think the Waupun weather forecast should post a warning when we have east winds because that brings the prison farm stink to the school:)
Freezing fog is when the water vapor in the air condenses and then freezes on cold surfaces. Really the same process as frost only to a greater degree. Black ice is produced in a similar manner.

Hawaii and Arizona don’t have Daylight Savings time. I just heard that on the radio.
Bill I would guess you have never seen a puddle over there with all the sand. Water will soak through too quickly unless the ground is compacted. No mud either Marta:)
I guess I can expect to get blasted by my wife for answering questions:)

Hi Bill,
Weather has been quite a problem for the farmer here in Wisconsin, from wind, to frost, to rain, to fog and even snow flurries, did anyone of your readers see that on Saturday morning about 2 weeks ago?
The fields are very muddy and this year the leaves were blown completely off the trees all in one weekend. We have lived in our home for 33 years and have never had to rake because the leaves would fall a few at a time, but this year it was quite a chore to gather all the wet abundance of leaves. Wish I could send you some of the big Maple ones, they are beautiful, however please do watch for a package that I will be sending so your nights will be more relaxing. Have a great day and will be thinking of you one raindrop at a time. Linda

My first comment is…”whatever Jim!” Enough said.
I was talking to one of my parents from school last night and she mentioned her husband was stationed over there, too. Of course I couldn’t remember where exactly you are. So, where is it? And then I began thinking about all the troops. Is there an equal representation of states, or are there more troops that come from a certain section of the US? Just curious.
