Background
The journey begins sometime near the end of August 2008. I was notified then of my pending deployment with very little information. All I knew was that I would be going somewhere in the near future to support the global war on terrorism. I am a drilling reservist, and reservists always have the possibility of being deployed anywhere at anytime. That is our duty. Nonetheless, it still shakes your world a little. Many have gone before and many will go after, so my journey is just a small piece of the big picture. It is an honor and privilege to have a hand in this effort. Serving in the military has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my lifetime, it gives a person a sense of purpose, a mission, a chance to be a part of team that has the same goal. This website hopefully will document this effort in a way that one can truly see the realities of being a soldier and the sacrifices they make.
